Innovative Food of High Quality for Human Health and Sustainability
an integrated program of innovation and research development in agricultural sciences and veterinary sciences
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
“Innovative quality food for public health and sustainable development – integrated programme for the development of scientific research and innovation in agricultural and veterinary sciences at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn”.
Project funded under the programme of the Minister of Education and Science called “Regional Initiative of Excellence” in 2019-2023, Project number 010/RID/2018/19, funding amount 12,000,000 PLN.
The nature of the proposed scope of the conference is based on the integration and complementarity of basic and applied research according to the concept: environment – agriculture – food – nutrition – health. The overarching goal of research conducted in the area of human-animal-environment relations should be the use of contemporary scientific advances for the well-being of the environment (plants and animals) and the physical, psychological and social well-being of humans. Consequently, it is possible and necessary to carry out research related to the safety of the environment, and consequently of plants and animals, and to monitor, identify and analyse changes in the traditional and new food products generated.
TOPICS
1. Environment and water
actions with the ultimate aim of developing environmental criteria conducive to the production of safe, high-quality food
2. Raw materials, nutrition and food technology and processing
actions which are ultimately intended to foster the development of innovative techniques and technologies and the evaluation of raw materials and plant & animal products, including fish; the correctness of processing operations and, as a result, the safety and quality, including health-promoting, of foodstuffs
3. Digestive tract and metabolic disorders
actions to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of animal diseases and to enhance current knowledge of the digestive tract and metabolism under physiological conditions and in pathological states
4. Animal production and aquaculture, food quality and safety, environmental protection
research on the functioning of the animal body in health and disease, including adaptation processes to changes in the external and internal environment at the genetic, molecular and biochemical level; the impact of the use of feed and feed additives as well as various systems of feeding, rearing and keeping farm animals on their productivity and welfare, the microbiome of the digestive tract, quality and safety of food raw materials of animal origin, reduction of environmental pollution from animal production; management of natural and anthropogenically shaped fish populations in terms of sustainable environment; biotechnology of breeding and cultivation of aquatic organisms and methods of processing and disposal of aquaculture waste
5. Natural and anthropogenic conditions of crop production
research on innovative technology systems for the production of high-value plant food raw materials, energy crops and the use of agricultural waste, including: assessment of the state of the soil and water environment guaranteeing high quality crops in terms of sustainable development; biological and technological conditions for the production of health-promoting plant food raw materials in different cultivation systems; production of plant raw materials valuable in terms of nutrient, mineral and biologically active content, free from biological contaminants for the production of safe food and animal feed
